water heater troubles

Hey all-

found out when turning on the water pump that it wasn't pressurizing. Turns out a backflow valve basically exploded. Got a replacement, no worries.
but also, there is a hole in my hot water heater.

Im going to go the easy route and replace it with an on demand electric water heater. My wife has no interest in taking showers in the motorhome, as
we'll be camping at parks with showers.

so, I'm looking at info for just bypassing the waterheater as a temp fix til I can replace it, because we have a trip planned in two weeks.

any input from you fine fine folks?

DO NOT use an electric on demand water heater! unless you intend to provide a dedicated service to your power pedestal for a separate 40A at 220V just for the water heater!

Another thing that keeps me well employed. RV pedestals are designed to provide EITHER 120V at 30A or 240V at 50A but NEVER at the same time. Now that I have automated the process of replacing pedestals, and have several 100 behind me, it only takes two hours.

The amperage will be even greater. Do NOT even think about plugging one of those things in one of the coach interior outlets.

Adam,

I did a lot of boat work until few years ago. I probably worked on about an half dozen electric on-demand water heaters. Mostly, I took them out.
Some I put in only to take them out later. Electric on-demand only works if you are closely tied to the grid. The power demand for them to be
successful is awesome in the true meaning of the word.

For the short term, just do a hardware by-pass and go and enjoy the coach. When you get home, start planning your path.
