Scott,
I am currently trying to find a temp gauge and sensor to use on the wheel
bearings. Cheap, easy to install type unit. Have been working on this for a
while. Now, for my current test, hold this under your 1200 hairs, I have an
indoor/outdoor thermometer on the inside of the front left axle of my S-10.
Have been running tests with it and looks good so far. Would like, and am
getting close to getting a temp sensor or thermistor which can be mounted to
the bearing housing with JB Weld. That's what a gauge manufacturer
suggested. That way, no drilling, just lick and stick. You might use this
idea on the engine compartment also. Just mount the outside sensor to the
top of the engine hatch.
The warning stuff drives the pricing out of sight, but eventually I'll find
one. Just taking time.
