We had a nice 4 day weekend in Albuquerque, NM. Took in some of the sights, including quite a few places where they filmed "Breaking Bad" on Sunday.
The KOA there is quite nice (we usually avoid commercial campgrounds).
We left Monday to continue our trip to the wedding party near Reno. About 50 miles into the drive, I started to notice the engine stumbling on hills.
This was the same as before the engine died on Thursday. OH NO! She is worried!
So I decided to dig out the old netbook PC and connect it to the EBL connector for the fuel injection to see if that could shed some light on what was
going on. I had not connected it to the system in years because it was running so well.
After driving a bit,up hill into the 20 knot headwind, it immediately became apparent on the "WUD" display what was going on. Low fuel pressure!
With a duty cycle of ~50%, fuel pressure was only 5-7 PSI. Not enough for throttle body fuel injection.
I remembered that I had not changed the fuel filter since i installed the EFI almost 10 years ago. Good thing I carry a spare. Found a truck stop and
crawled part way under the coach and changed it. I need to get a spin on filter to make that chore easier.
Started again, and now pressures running in the 15-17 psi range and duty cycle of ~30-40% oh hills into the wind. No stumbling! We had more going on
than a bad module when we broke down.
As a side note, we have logged 2099 miles so far and have not had to add any oil.
