3500 miles and didn't open the lid once.
Did have a couple of scares though.
One being when when enough tranny fluid vented out so that it was too
low to move after and overnight cooldown.
Anyways... the fix worked I guess as I now have about 1400 miles on
since replacing the modulator valve and the level is still good.
Had I listened to the tranny repairmen instead of friends of the
industry I may have replaced tranny or been taken for a ride anyways.
I will be moving the vent whe n I get the chance, but in the meantime if
the tranny starts venting again I'm not going to listen to so-called
experts, but rather change out what's possible to change, i.e. external
stuff like the modulator valve.
BTW, the last 1000 miles were done with dipstick tube sealed. The
external dipstick kit I use has an O ring to seal it. There was some
discussion earlier on the list about drilling holes in the tube to allow
for air. This should not be necessary and if required might even be
masking a problem with the proper vent.
On this trip I've also been filling oil 1/2 qt at a time. At add I only
add 1/2. Oil usage has improved.
