Do you have the GMCMI parts Interchange Index. Says there that the VA is GM
1973523, NAPA VC-1835, for early 75078 models.

So what's wrong with your NAPA store???

Subject: GMC: Vacuum Advance

A long day. Since I put on an Olds distributor I decided I had better get
rid of the vacuum advance thats on it. Some time ago Dave had me a part #
AC Delco 1973577. Went to AC Delco site and they said it was not a good #.
I got the location of 3 parts stores from the site and went to visit them.
Auto Zone----they don't sell AC Delco vacuum advances---lots of other AC
stuff just not VAs. Off to 2 other stores. no luck. Even went to
NAPA----no dice--not a good #. Then we tried the GMC parts book----the
problem there is that there are 4 Vas listed. I did not want to take a
chance on which one it needed.

Came home and called Cinnabar yeah we checked and all 3 HEIs now use just
one VA-----AC Delco 1973577. Its a good # with Cinnabar. Guess that will
teach me to try to do it on the cheap.

I just got mine earlier this summer at a local GMC dealer. They didn't have
a problem with that number. I don't remember the cost but I am sure it was
cheaper than Cinnabar. Sometimes the guys at the parts counters are just
not with it...

Same here - around $17 IIRC.

Sorry, meant to add that I got it at a local Pontiac dealership. Just gave
them the number and a day later I had it.

I've also had excellent experience with the local Pontiac dealership. They
can even do an inventory search of local dealerships to see if anyone has it
in stock, although, since the Atlanta parts depot is nearby, I've never had
to wait longer than one day for delivery. If you have the part number any
GM franchise can order for you. Try different dealerships until you find
one with a parts department that will work with you.
