Jack, we have been camping in state and national parks for the past 25
years and occasionally (especially on a weekend) we will end up camping
next to a wild bunch, but we rarely have been bothered by them.
I think the media hype about gun-totin' Americans scares away some
tourist but it is mainly hype.
Most parks are well patrolled for everyone's enjoyment and safety.
Your enjoyment of your American adventure will surely be diminished by
bypassing Florida. Much of the USA is still bitter cold (in my opinion)in
March while Florida is just super! Since many northern campgrounds are
still closed in March you may want to follow a more southerly route to
NM/AZ.
I trust you and Mrs Dexter will be back in NS in time to host the Florida
caravan in late summer??
