Unusual Coach

Hey

In regards to the raised roof, I have seen one once.
It was on the docking area at McCormack Place in
Chicago(the big convention center), and it was
unusual. It seemed to have a big raised roof section,
maybe about a foot tall or so. It also had no windows,
even in the rear. But in the rear, the owners had
custom built the rear panel to have two huge, opening
rear doors like on a standard full size van. I had
seen it while on a freeway a few years ago, and
haven't seen it since, because they finished fixing
the Chicago Skyway. Hope this helps!

Speaking of changes to the roofline of the coach , there is one of our
GMCer's out in Alberta, Canada who has also raised a fiberglass lip
along the outside roof line of the coach. I believe he did this so he
can put deck chairs or other storage things up there with out showing. It
runs the full length front to back and looks quite streamlined. Darren
Paget may have seen it as many of the Albertan GMCer's get together from
time to time.

I am still so new to GMC motor homes I haven't had the privilege of getting
together with the other Alberta owners. I haven't seen that one yet.

greetings all
dave and others have expressed an interest in seeing
a photo of the fiberglass roof on my coach. I would
like to post some but being computer illiterate (why
don't they make keyboards with letters in alphabetical
order where you can find them) and I don't have a
scanner anyway I don't see how.I hope billy massey
will bring his camera when he stops by and he can post
some on his site or show me how.
does anyone know what kind of adhesive
to use for the vinyl rub rail on the sides, if the old
girl is going to have her picture taken I need to
make her pretty

thanks Boyd
P.S. if anyone needs a rear end
without a window I have one

I used liquid nails - worked pretty well. Major problem was getting
enough pressure on the rail to have it tight against the side of the
coach.

I talked with this fellow about a year ago. His setup is quite interesting.
He made the lip himself and it fits quite well with the lines. The other
thing of interest in his coach was the skylight that he put in the roof
just above the engine hatch. I thought that it would dramatically increase
the heat inside the coach but he said no. Upon opening it and the driver's
side window when traveling, air was drawn through the cab. He maintained
that it dramatically decreased the temperature down in the space.
