Unplugged wire connector under dash.

There is a linear switch down at the bottom of your steering column above the pedals that is controlled by a rod from the ignition switch. I believe that it has a couple of plugs that go into it that look similar to your picture.
Look in that area to see if it is missing a plug.

Otherwise it may just be out of adjustment. You can loosen a screw and slide it up and down to get the contacts to work properly. There should be a picture of it in the parts 78Z book. Look in the steering shaft section. I don’t have the book with me right now so I cannot give you a page number.

Gary,

I think that connector goes into the instrument panel.
I also agree with Emery that the problem is most likely with the switch that is down on the column. It could either be out of adjustment or failed.
Adjustment is easy. Replacement is a PITA because I don't bend the way needed to get at the screws.

Gary, Sorry I read your photo site posting first, now I see you are having issues with power to the ignition coil.

I looked at my spare ignition switch and it uses 1/4" tab connections. I believe'74s still used the points ignition, Is your coach still running
points? If so power to the coil is provided from a terminal on the starter solenoid during start, and then through a resistance wire when in run, so
two different circuits.

THX Bruce,  but it is too short to reach the radio.

Bruce;  I do not have the points. But Dick Paterson redid my distributor
with petronics.  Where would I find the resistor wire? It will stay
running in the start position. Shuts off when released.

Gary,
Go here and download the chassis wiring diagram for your model year of coach.

http://www.bdub.net/wirediagrams/

The ignition switch is near the top of the diagram. I'm guessing that with the Pertronics module, it still uses the resistor wire. On the '73 diagram
it shows Ignition goes from a #12 Pink to a #18 black wire which then changes to the resistance wire being #20 Black with pink. The resistance of the
wire is shown as 1.35 ohms. The wires will be buried in the wiring harness, so good luck at finding it. If you have voltage at the switch, but
nothing at the coil (open connection through the wire) it would likely be easier to just pull a new wire with a resistor in-line.

As mentioned by others it could be the physical adjustment of the switch, or the switch itself.

I strongly suspect that DIck Paterson recommends bypassing the resistance
wire. Whether he does or not, that's certainly what I'd do. The Pertronix
1181 (with Hall effect sensor and magnets for Olds/GMC) definitely expects
to operate at 12 VDC. I'm sure the distributor lobe detecting equivalent,
which Dick may use, also expects 12 VDC.
