Please explain the cassette adapter. And is this new or was it used on the
auction?

Marlene,

The cassette adapter allows you to play standard cassette tapes in your 8
track player - you insert the adapter into the 8 track slot, no batteries
needed, everything is powered by the old Delco 8 Track. There were at least
two different styles available, one sticks out a little more but allows you
to change tapes without pulling the adapter out of the 8 track slot. They
both have Play-Stop-FastForward buttons.
Now don't get me wrong, this is no substitute for a CD changer, but since my
dashboard is in really nice shape I want to keep it looking original, at
least for now.
I actually ended up with two cassette adapters, both are used, one works
great, the other one needs a little cleaning/adjusting.
You could probably still find an unused unit in the original box, just keep
in mind these things are at least 15 years old, there's no guarantee it will
work.
