Surprize!

We've owned our coach since late '97, and since it's a '76, we didn't
figure we needed to worry about bias vs. radial wheels. We found
differently on our trip to Ukiah. We caravanned with Chuck & Hannah Will as
far as the Wal-Mart lot in Milpitas. A few minutes after we arrived, Chuck
noticed that our right front tire was noticeably losing air. Of course
being Easter, we couldn't get anyone out to fix it, so Chuck put a couple
bottle jacks under it so it wouldn't be too low to get a jack under it as
the tire went flat.

The next morning, we contacted a mobil tire service company to have them
come out to fix the tire. When he tried to determine the leak's source, we
discovered it was leaking from the wheel's weld. Further inspection
revealed the number 27064 stamped on the wheel face between 2 of the lug
nuts. The wheels were also stamped '74. So our '76 coach had '74
(non-radial) wheels. We finally got on our way at about 11:00 Monday
morning (which is why we missed meeting up with Al Chernoff and Gene
Fisher). While at the rally, We were fortunate to meet Kerry & Leanne Tandy
who had a 16.5" wheel they were about to dump in favor of an Alcoa. So we
were able to swap out the defective wheel, but we still need to replace the
other 6.

It figures that as soon as I realize I need something, it has just been
offered and snagged by someone else. I'm not ready to can my 16.5" tires
and SST wheel liners, so I need a set of 16.5" radial steel wheels. So, has
any one else (prefferably on the west coast) switched to Alcoa's and have
extra 16.5" wheels?

TIA

Hi Dave and Dege

Was good to visit with you at the rally. Hope you find your rims. Should
not be a problem, I have seen several listed since we came back..I did not
keep track,so not sure if they are buying or selling ;>)

let me know if you find errors on the swap meet.

Hey Kerry! Was that my wheel? :-)

Just kidding. Glad you had it available for a good cause.
