Please let me make you aware that Yahoo email places question marks (?) aft=
er every period in a
message.=C2=A0 I'm going to switch to another system.=
=C2=A0 Until then, ignore the questions
marks.=C2=A0 Sorry, these question =
marks make reading email messages
harder.=C2=A0 Billy Massey has offered to=
help switch systems. Update on the turn signal short
problem.Thanks for =
your
suggestions.=C2=A0 Here's what I have done
today.=C2=A0 I removed the =
right rear tail light
assembly.=C2=A0 Fuses still blow when brakes, flasher=
s or right turn signal are
applied.=C2=A0I also disconnected the large 10-w=
ire connector on the side of the steering column and took ohm readings on t=
he disconnected wires running up the
column.=C2=A0 The readings all read ze=
ro.=C2=A0 I then took ohm readings on the disconnected load
wires.=C2=A0 He=
re I received some low ohm readings showing resistance on the wires running=
to the turn
signals.=C2=A0 I did this test in a hurry and plan to do it ag=
ain tomorrow to double check the
readings.=C2=A0 But, at least for now, I'm=
thinking the short problem isn't in the turn signal switch inside the colu=
mn but somewhere in the wiring leading to the front or rear
lamps.=C2=A0 I =
have checked this wiring closely but apparently not close
enough.=C2=A0 Sin=
ce there were no screws in the right tail light assembly during the testing=
,=C2=A0I'm thinking it is probably=C2=A0doubtful that mounting screws are c=
ausing the
problem.=C2=A0 Of course, anything is
possible.=C2=A0 If anyone =
has a suggestion for isolating the short by all means please let me hear it=
.=C2=A0 This has become a huge
aggravation.=C2=A0 I look forward to hearing=
from you. Thanks, Tom Whitton26 foot updated GMCPaducah, KY Or=
iginal message: I am blowing fuses immediately when I press on the brake =
pedal or turn the turn signal to the
right.?This appears to be a dead short=
somewhere.=C2=A0 The left side?works
fine.=C2=A0 I have probably spent 10-=
12 hours tracing and examining wires and connections but haven't found the =
problem. =C2=A0Does anyone have a suggestion on what this might be or where=
to look nex Obviously, I can't drive more than around the block until this=
is fixed. =C2=A0Appreciate suggestions and ideas...
