Hi all,

Was going to give our Pumpkin-Rose a tuneup and was looking for part info on
spark plugs, rotor/cap, points, wireset, carb. overhaul kit, And tranny
filter. There's R46S plugs(manual shows R45S gapped to .040 do you still gap
at .060?) in the rebuilt 455 which came from Spartan engine supply and was
installed by Don Macky GMC in Tucson AZ. about 16000 miles ago. Wanted to
switch to Platinum plugs, any suggestions to best plug?
The Q-jet carb.# 07045254 guess it was the original carb? Used that # for
overhaul kit from NAPA guess it should work? The GMC was first sold
10/25/73. The manual shows PF 160 for tranny filter but is penned out in
book and PF 169 written in. Called NAPA auto supply and he could not match
the #s, but looked up one for TH425 which he had, is this a good filter for
this tranny? Guess the Rotor/Cap/points and wires can just be ordered for a
Olds Tornado?(he did not list a GMC MH)
Took a short trip about 140 miles and our Pumpkin-Rose ran good, outside
temps got up to about 110degs.(outside GMS temp gauge) and GMC temp got up
to about 215 (slightly below half mark on original temp gauge) climbing hill
to Las Vegas from Laughlin. Tranny temp. got up to about 225 or so on same
hill climb. On flat lands engine anotch above 1/4 and tranny about 180/200.
Should I try and lower temps? About 10 miles from home when leaving
stoplight and pushing throttle MH bogged, backed off and it ran fine, was
fuel to hot? Thanks for any info.
