TSM disk brakes - residual valve

I am glad you hit upon this. I called TSM last year and was told not to
remove the residual valve . Have installation procedures changed?

FWIW... I didn't remove mine either.
However, I can't recall if it was in the instructions to do so and was
missed or whether it wasn't there to do.

I must have missed that part - didn't remove any "residual valve" and
there's no residual pressure on the rear calipers; i.e. the hubs turn
freely with the brake released.

Wiped out my rear drums a few weeks ago, but before doing so, they DID
rotate freely. That 10# residual pressure probably JUST balanced the
mechanical spring pressure to keep the pistons from bottoming. That should
NOT be a consideration with discs.
