Larry,

I had to perform this operation and I'm pleased to report that the
patient survived the scalpel.

Just disconnect the wires from all terminals on the Onan's regulator and
tape them off.*

As I recall there were 3 wires. Two of them went to the same pigtail so
I left them joined together after pulling them from the regulator.

This was the advice I received from contributors to this list and it was
right on the mark.

I might add that if you ever have the flywheel off and want to make the
operation irreversible, just remove the stator. It's just dead weight
now that you have disconnected it from the regulator.
