Finally, sunshine and over 45 degrees. After some trouble, I got a tube all the way into the transmission pan, and it's (very slowly) siphoning the
fluid into some gallon bottles. Looks like three - four hours to get a couple of gallons out of it. The idea is to drain it below the level of the
pan, so I don't make a colossal mess on the pad. Which mess would certainly end up in the BWD's coat. Later this afternoon I should be able to get
the pan off and see what's in it.
Once it's repaired I will replumb the transmission and oil cooling systems back to stock. On Manny's advice, I'll add one simple cooler to the
transmission lines, after the radiator cooler. I thik I know where I can get a set of stock lines for both the transmission and the oil filter
adaptor, I'll probably add a set of J.R.'s flex lines for the oil cooler. The coach is currently a plumber's night mare, because the PO hauled a
heavy trailer full of Harleys in the Rocky Mountains. Experience with my 23' indicates that the stock setup is sufficient as long as the fan is
working properly and the radiator isn't plugged or obstructed. I only see two hills of any consequence, it sails over both with the recored radiator
and new fan clutch with either the Mousetoad or the ratrod clipped on the back. I expect the same from the 26'.
