Well, it has been a tough weekend.

FRIDAY - A lively discussion concerning the purchase of new Alcoas and
G159's vs. paving the driveway was held. We can afford neither. Despite
Julie pointing out that the coach has traveled 320 feet since it came
home, I remained unconvinced. I take a test drive in my Suburban. Katie
put out an APB for me on the Internet.

SATURDAY - Following a bad nights sleep at my parents house (the heat is
not on), my resolve started to waiver . I returned to the house and
repaired a fist sized hole that had mysteriously appeared in the wall,
right where I was told "If you don't like it leave." And assisted in
retreiving a wedding ring that had somehow ended up in the trash can.
Katelyn sought and received assistance on her autism paper from the
GMCnet. I hid/worked on the GMC and washed all the cars inside and out.

SUNDAY - Following a better nights sleep on my own bed with six pillows
piled down the middle, I sent Julie and the kids to church. I completed
the installation of the new fridge, installed roof and side vents, wired
in all including assist fan. The cabinet work came out great. Valley
Pecan Wilsonart laminate is a perfect match. Zar English Oak stain on
oak is also perfect. The rounded courner made from a ripped down 1/2
circle oak trim from Home Depot is perfect.... I am pleased with myself,
as you can tell. Tonight I hope to sleep on my own bed with no pillows
in the middle.

CONCLUSION - The GMC will soon be parked on a nice new driveway with
it's old tires or a set of old ones obtained from a kind GMC sole who
probably can relate to my tales above. Come on now, don't tell me that
I am the only one.......

I got it from a local place. Any one who carries Wilsonart Laminate can get
it. Home Depot carries it. It is called Valley Pecan and was suggested by one
of the netters. I bought the standard countertop type stuff but I understand it
may be available in a thermal form variety which is thinner. Used it for the
fridge extension and the fridge door inserts. I will need more to do the
cabinetry in the bedroom.

Gene,
Home Deport carries samples for special order here in the DFW area. Found
the samples in the kitchen counter/cabinet area of the store.

Ron,

I hear you my brother. Had my GMC for about 6 weeks now. Just got the latest
VISA bill.
My wife had only one word, "WOW!" And it wasn't the good kind of WOW like you
say when you see a beautiful
sunset, or just won the lottery. It was definitely the bad kind of WOW, like
you just told a neighbor
you ran over another neighbor's cat. If you say it out loud, "I just spent $$$
on a 27 year old motorhome,
now spent $$$ on extra's, plus my holding tank leaks" it sounds pretty bad.
But the GMC keeps me home,
somewhat out of trouble, and will hopefully pay off in nice comfortable
cruising, quality family time.
I think I'm ahead.

Thinking ahead is what I am doing. Best family times have been camping, away from
house, lawn, neighbors, etc.

I only spent $6000 originally, that is one of my saving graces. Spent another
$6,000 fixing it up so far. A bit at a time, that is the only way it works on my
wife. Plus, it looks really nice and even she loves it just a bit.

Ron,

Just gotta' echo Eric's sentiments. Yours is a malady common to those of us
still working for a living with young children and spouses whose patience
gets stretched to the limits at times.

Consider investing in flowers and hope your sleeping accomodations improve.

I just keep trying to remember, that the yearly depreciation on a big SOB

Our 75 Palm Beach has been in our family since it was new. I was just a kid
when my Dad got it, now I take my daughter on trips. If I think of all the
wonderful memories that took place in this vehicle, I cannot imagine money
(considerable over 25 years!) better spent.

It is easy to lose sight of the joy this hunk of steel, aluminum, and
plastic will bring to your life when you are mired in bearing troubles,
water leaks, or electrical concerns, but you'll forget those problems and
the money spent to address them long before time erases the memories of time
well spent.

Enjoy the adventure!

The only flowers that would work are the ones lining the new driveway. I
figured that if I sell one of the kids, I might be able to pave and put on the
new tires. I wouldn't need to install as many beds either.

Ron,

Lots of empathy from South Florida! Even after 46 years with Jan, she
still scrutinizes every invoice related to work on the GMC.

The coach is at Coop Motors the last two weeks getting work done. Jan
came up with a list that cost wise, far exceeds my list of mechanical
things. I think I got her this time!

I have a feeling I will see the brick wall a nanosecond after she does!

I sure hope Jimbo isn't getting too fancy with our ugly ole' GMC!
