Traveling thru the northwest

As some have read earlier in my posts that Jen and myself have been traveling full time for almost 6months now. Our journey is taking us to the
Northwest mostly because the higher elevation NP are still getting whacked with snow and we are skipping winter. I'm looking for routes to take up
from Bakersfield,Ca where we currently are waiting on mail to get to us. Traveling the coast through the southern route of the PCH into Big Sur is
still closed I believe we'd have to go from Monterrey south. We are stopping in San Francisco to visit some family and get some odds and ends taken
care of at JimK. I know there is a pluthera of nature and beauty in this part of the country but we're looking for "local" sites not necessarily
touristy. We really like boondocking anywhere we can go so we aren't in need of shore power very often and all the suggestions we got traveling
through Texas were so helpful I figured I'd reach out again.

Jim,
Once again I can help with great local dive bars and restaurants. But I don't have any ideas about where to park at.

If you go into the city, my favorite bars are the Northstar and Columbus cafe. Very local and great micros! Food would be Tony Napolitano's for
Pizza(but not as good as Regina's or Santarpio's).
For most interesting it would be Kennedy's. 100 beers on draft and a good Indian restaurant!!
Best live music in the early evening...the Saloon, infact a band I was playing with played there years ago. We were horrible!!
But enjoy!

Scott thanks again. Sorry we didn’t get to meet up in SoCal but we took your advice and checked out the local brews and spent the night in Carlsbad. We had a great time. And Sweetwater Summit regional park worked out great for traveling into San Diego if anyone is looking for somewhere to camp that’s reasonably priced for California I’d check that out as a base camp for traveling into the city.

in Charleston, about 100 miles north of the CA border. Plenty to see in
our area.

Jim, definitely take Jerry up on his offer in Oregon.

We love Oregon, especially along the coast. In fact, one day we traveled
only 32 miles between state parks along the coast. There are numerous
state parks on the Oregon coast. Check out the Pelican Brewery in Pacific
City at Cape Kiwanda right on the beach near Tillamook. There's an rv park
right across the street. Speaking of Tillamook, think cheese and ice cream
and air museums.

Newport is nice and so is Lincoln City and Depot Bay. I could go on...
The Portland Rose Garden is spectacular in May, but we also found it to be
very pretty in August.

Don't know your time line, but, we have room for a couple of coaches and
hook ups. 6 miles from I -5. Lots of adult beverages and any GMC tool you
will ever need. Email or call ahead.

Jerry and Jim thanks a ton for the hospitality and we will more than likely take you up on the offers when we reach the area. Sandra thanks for tips. Anywhere that involves trying out a brewery we are in.
