Assuming your email wasn't "Tongue-in-Cheek", don't sweat it Scott.
Some people just love to "gold plate", which is fine - it's their
money. There's plenty of evidence that a stock drivetrain, properly
maintained will do the job just fine.

I second Patrick's comment, Scott.
I drove mine stock (other than fridge & front/rear stabilizers) for many
years and many miles.

It's only in the last couple of years that I added/changed a few things.
Correction on the 'stock', 4-5 years ago I did add the side mirrors and
digital dash.

I usually see what's around when something is broken. I went to disc brakes
instead of buying 4 new drums. Perhaps they're only justifications in my own
mind as I'm still considered a gadgeteer :-)

I try to be carefull though. By that I mean that all (most) of my add-ons
are reversable. With the exception of the original carb I still have all the
original pieces and I try to make sure that anything I put on I can also
take off and still have my GMC servicable.

I envy you for the experience you appear to have in your area. I'll try to
program that into the GMC so that it might consider breaking down there
instead of the middle of NM should it decide to want some extra vacation
time some day :-)

A stock GMC is still an engineering wonder today. I can only imagine the
stir it created at introduction.

....and it makes such a nice platform to mount toys on :-)

I winced a bit when I hit the "send" button on that one because it
sounded a little like I was knocking modifications. Not so. Technology
has advanced over the past two decades and you can improve on some of
the systems, but the coach worked 25 years ago as built and it will
still work today in stock mode.

Yeah! That too!
