I had to replace my Governor at about 100k miles & ran it another 65k
miles before retiring the Transmission & put in a "New Transmission".
The original Transmission was still going strong when I retired it & it
is now in another coach w/o any repair.

Thanks for the input. I guess the governor wear out is not a precursor to
transmission problems.

Not likely. Fire is the insured peril and it's unlikely that the fire did
much damage to the tranmission. Any damage to the transmission before the
fire is from mechanical failure, which is not covered by auto policies.
