Jim, I think he is referring to the round hole that is about 3" in diameter
that is in the torque converter housing on the passenger side of the bell
housing. Most all of them are missing from the transmissions that I have
seen. It is just a snap-in plate. I suspect that it's purpose was to keep
critters out. GM probably uses the hole for assembly or inspection
purposes, but that is a guess on my part. Manny might know for sure.
