Good Day.....
Do we have anyone out there with transmission expertise who
could make up a list of components that should be installed in a
total trans rebuild. I'm looking for specifics here that I can print off
and keep in the dash (now there's a joke...I don't have room for a
stamp at the moment) for a check list should my tranny decline its
services while on the road.
The terms "heavy duty" and "extra this and that" really are
subjective. And did I hear somewhere that the Allison torque
converter is a GM product anyway?
Brand names and part numbers for a long lasting, hard working,
smooth runnin' tranny that keeps on goin' and goin' and goin' are
what I'd like, but I'll settle for and solid info.
Thanks

this is exactly the kind of information that I would like to see archived on
patricks site for everyone to use complete with prices. when you connect
specific items with prices it makes it a lot easier to get equivalent
services at a competitive price.

I can't tell you what the parts ore that you need for a transmission
rebuild, but I can tell you to call Mel or Jeff at 510-829-1120. They did
mine, and I am very pleased with the parts they put in. My normal mechanic
who did the job a jear or so ago, did just the basics and it failed just
after a year. So I think the heavy duty is better.

Hope this helps
