Want to flat tow my 2009 Honda fit behind my 1978 GMC.

After web surfing a bit I was thinking of the following setup.

Roadmaster base plate on the Fit
Broadcaster falcon 2 tow bar
brake Buddy brake system.

This all adds up to about $2000 so want to make sure
I'm getting a good set up.
I've been following the $5 and $200 brake discussions but time restriction and spousal inclinations mean I need of the shelf parts.

Any experiences with these systems?

That is exactly what I am using to tow my 4 door hard top Geo Tracker.
it works great.

I bought the Falcon 2 and the Brake Buddy on ebay for under $1000.

Right now there is a new Falcon 2 with free shipping for $690.

Do a bit of searching there . You might even find a base plate.

Honda Fit's until the 2015 model year are four wheel down towable, even automatic transmissions.
I tow a 2010 manual Fit. Equipment used is Desmo Base Plate, Blue Ox tow bar, and M&G permanently installed braking system.
Small disclaimer, I bought this Fit because the base plate was already installed. Had the Blue Ox from previous towd. Bought M&G because I did not
want the hassle of removing and reinstalling a brake buddy type system every time that I used the combination of towd and coach.
I also installed a battery disconnect switch because it is easier than removing and replacing a fuse. I also installed a kit that allows me to use the
Fit's tail lights while under tow. Available on Amazon.
Honda Fit tows very nicely because of it's low weight. Mine weighs in at 2335 pounds, before adding cargo inside. I also like that nothing is hanging
on the front of the Fit when it is not being towed. The Blue Ox tow bar lives in the coach's hitch, not the Fit front end.
I would call JmK to purchase all the components that you do not already own. Just easier and helps the GMC survive.

I went with the Blue Ox base plate and tow bar on our 2010 Fit. I installed the base plate myself in about 2-3 hours using online video tutorials.
Like Tom said, nothing really shows on the car once installed, just two 1.25"-ish bullet-shaped receivers.

You should have been advised as to what tail light kit to aquire and the
Tow bar. Oh, you should get a towed brake system as well.

I tow the Mousemobile with a Demco base plate - which needed no cutting of the grille - and their low bux towbar. Thje ratrod Ranger has a reasonable
bumper mount so I got a 50 dollar towbar from eBay and bolted it to the bumper mounts, which are actually the front ends of the frame rails. Both
are lightweight enough that I use the coach brakes since the bulk of my travel is rural in flat land.
For the Mouse, I simply cut a hole in the (huge) rear light assemblies and put a stop/tail bulb and pigtail socket in each one. This keeps the wiring
entirely separate from the car system wich I think only the Koreans who built it really understand. I've a light bar for the truck.
