I still need recommendations on how to tow my 88 Suzuki Samuri. Do I
need a brake unit? What brand, where to buy, how to install to front of
Samuri?

I also need a cover plate for the circuit board on an Onan 6KW genset.

Walter, try P&E Industries for info on tow equipt. You can reach them in

They should be a lot of help. In my opinion you probably don't need a
brake kit since the Suzuki is so light. That is unless you climb any of
Colorado's hills!

I bought a tow bar from them that stays on the back of the MH as opposed
to staying on the car. You will need brackets that connect the Toad to
the tow bar. These are basically to adapt many different car
configurations to a single design tow bar.

If you already have a 2" receiver thru or under your bumper then you can
add the tow equipt to that via a square connector or a ball connector.

ps Put Santa Fe on your list for this summer. No farm but an acre. I've
got two sets of cleanouts and planning for a third.

Dug a little deeper, ie I read the owner's manual Weight is 2094 lbs or
950 kg. Hope this helps. I paid $1600 137,000 miles, third owner,
good rubber, 3 tops, It is a baby jeep. My wife and two little kids fit
fine. Need help with golden retiever. Um maybe a small trailer like
they use for racing dogs. During hunting season we often see multiple
tows. 4whd pick up pulling a jeep pulling a trailer with ATV's.
Usually from Texas.

I'm still a virgen. Ed Osburn has an even newer Suzuki Sidekick. "Yeah
the manual says,but I just went up to Idaho and back and only started it
when I drove it." The manual says put it in second, the transfer case
in nuetral and turn on the ignition to allow the wheels to turn. I am
not wild about having the ignition on, but maybe there is an
intermediate position.

Sounds like you got a good deal. What color?

I too use the P&E setup to tow & brake my Mazda Protoge.

FWIW, the brake system is only a minor inconvenience to hook up.
The towbar would be nicer if it was self-locking. It can be a real b..ch to
hook up by yourself at times.

It's definately nice to just unhook and leave the towbar on the GMC.

We just keep getting one windstorm after another, but at least the lights
have been staying on.

We towed a '90 Geo Tracker (same as Suzuki Sidekick) for several years.
Ours was a 4X4 w/ auto trans., To tow with 4 down, we had to change to
manual hubs since the auto hubs could engage if we backed up. We fired it
up and ran it thru the gears every 200 to 300 miles because we were told
that some parts were spinning even though we towed with the transfer case
in neutral and the tranny in park. We may not have needed to stop that
often, but we believe in stopping every 4 or 5 hours anyway to take a
break, and it usually coincided with a fuel stop.

And we had to leave the key in it and turned on (or to ACC, I can't
remember which) to unlock the steering column. Leaving it locked, even if
you're lucky enough to leave it pointed exactly straight ahead, causes lots
of tire wear on the front tires when towed (dragged) around corners. We
weren't concerned with security, because it was locked onto the (SOB)
motorhome.
