I just picked up a used, but like new, Roadmaster Nighthawk tow bar for $500.00 (less than half the price of a new one) and I discovered that it will not fit the homemade "crossbar" I am currently using for my Falcon II bar. Question for those of you who are towing Chevy Trackers (ours is a 2003 four door), will this crossbar from Roadmaster fit and solve my problem?

It looks like it bolts to the brackets that attach to the baseplate on the Tracker, but having never seen one, I'm not sure how it works.

Thanks,

That's what I use w my Falcon 5000. I think I got an Xtra.
The main concern I have is that the "ears" that the tow bar mounts to need to be about 2-5/8" apart for the tow bar end bracket to fit in between. I don't want to have to modify a new part (or another part) to fit. I really wish these manufacturers would standardize their parts to be interchangeable. The pin size is different too.

I'll check in the morning. Takes 3/4" pins.
Thanks, Billy! The new Nighthawk has 1/2" pins. It looks like my best bet is to call Roadmaster and see if they have a crossbar kit specifically made for the Nighthawk with the proper width and the 1/2" pins. Hopefully they do and, problem solved.

I figured out what the problem was with the new tow bar, with the help of Roadmaster tech support. The used Nighthawk tow bar had Blue Ox adapters on it. Totally different from the Roadmaster adapters. I am in the process of switching them out.

When I advertise the Falcon II for sale I will explain that it has Blue Ox ends on it. Hopefully this will work for the next person.
