Torsion bar replacement

Not as bad of a job as you would think, if you have the unloader tool
or something you can use in it's stead. You cannot use the adjuster
bolt to get the replacement bar into position, you'll strip the
threads(most likely). .......................
I should've had my 2nd cup this am when I gave out info on replacing
your broken torsion bar. IIRC, I unbolted the crossmember, removed 2
bolts on one side & one on the other, angled it back, slid in the bar in
the pork chop first, then into the lower control arm. If you're
fighting with this thing because of my misinfo, I apologize. Those
senior moments are visiting more frequently these days.

After removing both of mine you think I'd have spotted the soft plug in
the front of the lower control arm. Congratulations! After reading
your post I went out into the garage to look at a couple extra lower
control arms I have there. Sure enough! Soft plugs that can be removed
& reinstalled. You just found a better/easier procedure than the one
documented in the maintenance manual. That's what I like about this
digest, I learn something new each time I log on.
