Bummer Steve, I would like to have one of those to
restore and keep.

Bill, I'll have a nice one as soon as I win the flood victim fund
raiser one in WA. (Yeah...right!) There's a silver lining here....they
just put a nice '69 Toro on the strip lot. I had time to take the
unmolested Q-Jet off of it and tomorrow I'm going back for the engine &
trans. The final drive cover is a bit smashed & lube is weeping out so
I don't know if it's any good. There is also a Delta 88 with a 455 and
more Eldos than I had time to count.
I'll be spending some time with my tranny guy Saturday. He's built a
few TH425's and also has installed what he thinks is the same kit that
Caspro uses, he remembers having to drill a hole out in the valve body.
He's also going to look into the differences in the car vs GMC innards
and if there is a difference, he'll find out how much it costs to
upgrade one to GMC specs. It would be nice to have a shop in our area
that keeps a couple of these units available on an exchange basis at a
reasonable price.
Arch,
The steering box got turned in for the core return. The shop where I
store the GMC is just too busy with the off-road racing events to get
time to tear it down and inspect it to see what really is wrong with a
sloppy box or if it indeed is just a case of poor factory adjustment.
Just wanted to let you know that I didn't forget.
