I can tell you for sure that the 1970 toronado will go 100 miles per hour
all day long. I have had every toronado since the 1966, and the 1970 was
the fastest. In 1975 I had to drive to Illinois for a few days and while out
there remembered that my sons birthday was coming up the next day. Left
late that night and drove back to NY. Early in the morning was cruising at
100MPH for several hours, and occasionally much higher speeds. coming across
the NYS thruway from buffalo to Syracuse had it on 120 for a long time.
finally a NYS trooper pulled along side of me (about 4:00AM) in the morning
and motioned for me to slow down. He than went on past without ever
stopping me. Lucky me. Don't remember if I pegged it or not, but it
always had more power than I could use. Think it had 2.73 gears in it, dual
exhausts etc standard from the factory.
