......................I have yet to use my puller, so I don't
know how difficult it will be to use manually, in fact
I seem to recall a discussion about the improved
model (5 3/4) back last year being much stronger.

Has anyone used the 5 1/8 model yet? if so how
easy was it to pull the bearings? My wheel bearings
have probably never been removed so they may be
frozen, will the puller I have work with muscle power,
or will I need lots of help?..............

Although I cannot comment on how tight the bearings
on my coach may be compared with others, I have
used the wheel bearing puller, and can report that
it operates just fine as is in the manual mode.

While the OTC927 does indeed need the threads
lubed and works pretty hard, if all I used it for was
wheel bearing service on my coach I doubt if I could
wear it out in my lifetime.

The only change I made, after servicing the
bearings :) was to build an adapter to allow use of
a ratchet on the OTC927 (3/4" drive female to 1/2"
drive female)

I wasn't able to find one so I built one. The adapter
consists of:

- - a ratchet adapter (female 3/4" drive to male
1/2" drive adapter)

- - a 1/2" drive 12 point, 9/16" socket (check the
fit onto the male 1/2" drive adapter, not all fit the same)

In my case I welded the 2 together, however that
was an optional step to help me find the adapter
5 years from now when I need it again:).

With the adapter I can use my 3/4" ratchet which
provides lots of leverage.

I am not opposed to power or hydralics. I just
didn't see the need in this case.

Also makes my travel kit lighter.

When I travel I carry the Tom Warner bearing
tool, the OTC927 and the above adapter in the
coach.

Since Dave has yet to give me his credit card
number, in case of a flat tire I carry a 3/4" drive
torque wrench anyhow.

In my opinion reduction in the coaches carrying
capacity should always be a consideration in
the preparation of an emergency kit.

Said another way........... A lighter travel kit allows
more beer to be carried in the GM.

Works for me.
