Our coach (73 Painted Desert) came with a Thetford Aqua-magic
they make two models, the GH which is a tall model 17in and a GL
low-profile model 11 1/4 in tall, these are available from
various RV suppliers , we ordered a replacement model from Camping
world, and installed ourselves..

All Thetford toilets will fit. The original toilet was poor compared to today's choices. Depends on how much you want to pay. I choose
the porcelain bowl Thetford which flushes as clean as a standard residential toilet. Cost about $250 but IMHO it is worth every penny.

Our 73 Painted Desert came with an Thetford Electra Magic. It is a
self-contained, recirculating toilet that is dumped in your holding
tank when the toilet is full. It holds 7 gals of waste and water. We
empty the toilet when we are at a dump station. What we
understand is that they used this toilet because the GMC only
has/had room for one holding tank. This toilet is really used mostly
for Marine use (like the ac/dc refrigerators). It costs around
$450.00.

I went with the 'AURORA' from Thetford. It's Ceramic (instead of Plastic)
and is 'more like home' according to the wife....
