We replaced a ball valve type toilet because it would not hold standby
water to prevent odor. Changed to a Thetford Galaxy which has a slide valve
that does not leak. Has an added advantage of having a 4" stand pipe above
valve so that any toilet paper can be completely wetted before it is
flushed into the shallow GMC tank. Had a problem with non wetted paper
dropping down and building a mound. Had to use flushing wand to move
compacted paper. After changing toilet and always pre wetted toilet paper
in standpipe, the paper does not hang up in the bowl nor pile up in the
tank. Problem solved. List $183. Added no fuss flush kit [$30] but have
never been forced to use it yet.
Most put the shut off valve at the tank so the tube is not full during
travel. An empty tube will easily support itself, a full one would need
more support for the road shocks and bumps. If you ever need to use a wand
to break up stuff/paper in the tank, it would not clear a compacted tube.
You would have to go in from the exit, which is really messy.
