just finished a 3000 mile trip without any problems...believe that? but i
did work on it for 3 months so something good should happen.....im a real
green horn when it comes to rv'ing, but on this trip i realize a toad is
about a must.....i was wondering if anyone has towed a chev luv pickup...ive
got an 81 model that's taking up space and should be light enough to
qualify...was wondering if there where any secret's to towing one of
these....thanks

I towed a Chev S-10 two times and it was too much for the engine and the
brakes. I bought a Tracker (see web page) and I find that just ok. It is
still a load but like you say, a toad is critical to a good time. I
would not tow it if I was only going point to point. but If you want to see
things , they are critical

Don't want newbies or wanabees to get the impression they'll have to go buy
a toad, so I've just got to differ with Gene's assessment that they're
"critical".

We pulled a toad (Tracker, btw) for about 25,000 miles with our SOB, and
then tried a few trips without. We found it much more relaxing while under
way, and were still able to see everything we wanted. Now that we can't use
a toad, we don't even miss it. But even if we were able, I can only think
of a few reasons to haul a 2nd vehicle; 1) for a place to pack more
"stuff", 2) to take some off-road side trips, or 3) to use while on
business. Otherwise the hassles may very well outweigh the benefits.

thanks for all the input on towing....went to the Towing World home page as
suggested and what do you suppose is the world's worse thing to tow? an 81
chev luv 2wd pickup....so i guess mine will continue to collect dust....damn

Naw - can't be. I thought the worst was the late 70's Mustang II(Ford's
first attempt at re-downsizing the pony car). IIRC, there's a report
somewhere at towingworld.com about one pulling in half.
