Now heres my worry....water leaks.

Whats your opinion folks....should we or should we not?

Water leaks should be zero concern. If your awning causes water leaks it was installed
Piss poorly. At least my experience with a couple zip
Dees. Maybe dometics have crappy mounts.

Awning is sure nice to help keep shade on the gmc. Keeping gmc cool is a constant problem. As far as rain,

For me it does not help
Much as usually where there is rain there is wind and I am pulling awning in. But occasionally it is nice to be under if it is raining and not
windy, but that seems
For me to be rare.

I find I now rarely use
The awning as it is a few extra steps to pull out and retract and I am usually not staying put long.

When wife is with, awning is out.

When it is warm enough to have the entrance door open, and the awning is
out and it rains, no water comes off the roof into the open door. I like it
a whole lot.

Awnings rock! I had one Eleganza that had little ones on the pass side to
keep the sun off the windows. Super nice. The other bonus is your chairs
stay dry and if you have a throw to lay out along side the coach it keeps
everything dry 8’ or more from the door. Less sh&t tracked in.

We always get our ZipDee awning out (unless just an overnight at wallymart etc). It only takes a few minutes to put out, or roll up.

Watch out for heavy rain and/or wind. We had a sudden downpour while we were visiting others at a campground. Got back in time to watch one awning
arm collapse under the weight of likely 40 gallons of water. New arm was only $40 from ZipDee, but the roller was also bent a bit. I've managed to
get it back to wobbling maybe 1/2" or so.

My Staff says I never listen to them, or something like that

I ALWAYS install 2 of these as soon as the awning is deployed. They've
stretched the Sunbrella fabric, but that doesn't show when they're
installed. Never accumulate any water on the fabric.

After having once been caught with the awning out by 70 mph winds, I also
ALWAYS stake and tie down the awning.

I guess my message would make slightly more sense if I included the link
URL:
https://www.campingworld.com/solera-awnbrella-three-pack-88503.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw19z6BRAYEiwAmo64Lat8aiLcYmmPB4qAbSlr2AwLB7Gg5Vd6QHkP-XLbI0hD5kEQMb8uqBoCs6AQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I know -- that needs shortening, but since Google abandoned its shortener,
I don't know how!

On the 77 we put on a Zip-Dee "window awning" which only extends about three feet, but goes the full length of the coach. It deploys with just a pull
of the strap, so we rig it out almost any time we stop for more than a few minutes, even for lunch stops. Really makes it a lot cooler to keep the
sun off those big windows.

Like it so much, we have been thinking about seeing if Zip-Dee will make one for the Stretch.
