Ok guys lets talk tire recommendations.....i need new ones and would like your suggestions....now just you know i dispise buying tires as a mechanic
nothing drives me crazier as they are all really the same and your paying more for the supposed waranty and branding than quality..

I'm happy and trouble free with Cooper HT3. Made in USA.
Prior to that I had Michelin LTX M/S. Happy and trouble free for 12 years. I think made in Canada?
Neither required rebalancing ever. The Coopers on sale were about 1/2 the price. If buying again i'd "go with the Coopers. ". The BFG Commercial TA
was also on the list but read some horror stories here so off the list. I will not even consider off shore tires for several reasons, one being
worrying while driving. Not worth it.

We encourage people to price the USA made ones like Firstone.
The prices are good and they wear well and have seen great results in the
last several yesrs.

Toyo Open Country HT. That's what was on when I got her, and that's what I replaced them with. Ride well, good traction, fairly quiet. But, not the
cheapest on the block either.

The quality is there.
Always consider that you want a tire one can get warranty when your on
the road. That’s why I like Firestone as most tire shops can warranty them.

I am running Cooper HT-3 (225/70R16 LR-E) on the four rears and Cooper AT-3 (245/70R16 LR-E) on the front.

The four rears are about four and a half years old with about 18- 20,000 miles on them. Tread looks like new, but the sidewalls are starting to
develop a few small cracks here and there, which I consider normal for Arizona.

The coach had Kumhos on it when I got it, two of them separated within 3 - 4 years, same with the subsequent BFG Commercial TAs.

I don't think I will take a chance on the Coopers much after five years.

Are you looking for 16s or 16.5??
I believe Firestone Transforce HT is the remaining 8.75*16.5 made in the US. There may be imports. (Not many will not be an "import" to you.)
The hard part I have is getting current tires so they don't age out before they wear out.

I have 16" X 8" Dodge Truck wheels on the front. I wanted a wider tire for improved traction on the dirt roads that I frequent.

Matt and Rich:
I order mine (16” or 16.5” LT 225/R75/size Firestone Trans Force) from a tried and true local Firestone dealer (a week B 4 I want them installed) and specify they all have to be within 3 months of the date I am ordering.
Has worked for me every time!
If you don’t specify the dates, you get what is in the warehouse (not an option for me)!!!

Much like Mike, my guy goes to the warehouse and gets me them within 4 weeks or less date code. I've been dealing with the same folks for 35 years
now, and that's worth more than the brand of tire. (When they over tightened a lug after rotating the tires on my Kia they sent their wrecker to get
it, and replaced all the studs on that wheel and checked the others. "Whatta I owe ya, Joe?" "Nothing. Ready to go." As it turns out, they sell
Coopers, my coach and the last one have HT 3s on. Work fine and age out afore they wear out.

The Firestones (Bridgestone of Japan) have proven a good design in 16 and 16.5 wheel sizes. I did not suggest them as I have not run them personally.
I notice no one suggested Goodyear. There were issues in the past and my experience in general is poor wet performance.

NOT surprisingly the more inexpensive tires are not listed. May have
tested very low (CR typically shows the rating of all items tested) or more
likely not tested at all. I trust CR when it comes to reviews of the
multitude of products that they test every year. I am Also a CR subscriber.

A test of usage by a few members of the GMC community does not constitute a
reliable test as compared to a CR test. But the choice is yours and you
pay your dollars and take your chances.

So, I went to find out why. They are SUV or light pickup tires. There is nothing in that line like a Load Rage E (aka 10 ply rating).

We took Consumer reports for years. We trusted their tests and were seldom disappointed, but this time they may not have supplier information with
any specific value to out case. The fact that many of us have had good luck with them does not mean that you can't age out a set of Kumho or Hankooks
too. The big stopper there may be that many of the oweners here still wear 16.5.

Testing few tires out of a batch leave something to question.
In my younger days I would read th CR re. automobile evaluation and saw lot
of nit picking that convinced me that I could not rely on them much.

CR is useful to me in some items and not so much in others. I note in the tire ratings they balance between tread life and traction/noise/etc. To
me, tread life is bupkis, mine will age out long before the tread is gone, so I so I discount it to a degree.
