Steve-
I'm wondering, do you know for sure whether that spare tire blowout was
really an E range all steele- sidewall and tred?

I find it hard to believe a tire of that toughness, siting in the spare
position would do that, but on the other hand I don't want to call you a
liar either.

Dave -

I was responding to someone else who had said an E tire had blown out on
the spare. Personally I have some questions on that unless the tire had
been badly abused or something. My guess there is more to the story if
it is truly an E range tire. maybe more facts to come, we'll wait and
see.

Is the E tire some kind of internet thing? Maybe it should be called an
e-tire.

Ron,
Gee where have you been? Ah, I guess you came in here
late. We've had many very spirited (probably an
understatement) debate here over the past year over E
rated tires. Also tire pressure has been debated
and that is also a very controversial subject.

So E rating is not an internet thing, but rather a tire
rating. The GMCs started out life with D rated tires
and GM recalled them and replaced them with E rated.

Gene must have something about this in his website.
Richard Waters '76 PB, Troy, MI (E rated at 80 PSI)

I had a micheln spare blow out. I came home fro a trip, and my son came
out and asked me what happened. I didn't know what he was talking about.
He said, look at your spare. It was destroyed. not on the coach, not
anything, just siting on the rear as a spare.... It did have a white cover,
so it was not in the sun. Called Osburn and said I had a spare to fix...
he said "micheln" I said "yes".. He sai " blew up" I said "yes"..happens
every time he said... enough said, I went to Goodyear.
Don't know the rating of the tires, but they were 7 + years old if I
recall.

Ron,
Well I thought that you had been around. I guess my sense
of humor lapsed today. I should have known.
