Tire Advice

Glenn:

Just got 6 Bridgestones at NTB for $110 each including mounting and
balance. They seem to another tire of choice and Patrick got the deal
first at NTB in Atlanta. I showed them a copy of his invoice and they
did the same for me after a little bitching about difereent areas of the
country and that they should be chargeing more because we are in a high
col area. If you want a copy of my invioce let me know. It also
included the Alcoa wheels and lug nuts.

I understand that the Michelin tire rides a little firmer than the Goodyear
G159. I bought the Goodyear tires for my GMC. I also have a 1 ton dual
wheel flat bed truck and I have Michelin tires on it. I am happy with both
brands. I would guess that you could not go wrong with either brand.

Glen:

I just ordered a set of the LTX's (A/S tread, load range E) and will be
installing them on new Alcoas next week. I'll let you know what differences
I observe compared with the present Michelin truck tires that are on the OE
16.5" steel wheels.

I decided to try the LTX's because I have logged 68,000 miles on a Toyota
Land Cruiser equipped with LTX's and have been very happy with them. The
first set went 44,000 miles. My impression is that the tire has a fairly
civilized ride and only moderate tread noise for a supposedly rugged tire.

What I don't know is how they will hold up on the GMC which is twice the
weight of the Land Cruiser, or how the GMC will respond to truck ruts when
fitted with the LTX's which have much softer sidewalls.
