Did you check to see if it needs replacement? That can be checked before disassembly if it's really bad. Bob Dunahugh

If it is a OEM timing set, regardless of how much play in the chain, that OEM fiber gear should be replaced now. I've seen to many of these fiber
gears come apart stranding people on the side of the road with big towing and repair bill. The only way to know if it is OEM is records from PO
saying it was changed...or take it apart and see for your self. IMO...If you don't know...change it. Just what I'd do.

Larry, he is having his coach worked on in Mexico by people he does not
know very well. He is trying to keep a watchful eye on their work and being
quite cautious. Just trying to be as helpful as I can from this distance.

Jim,
You are thinking of Gregg, Bob lives outside of Conifer, Colorado. He was
told a lot of things that he later found out were false. Bought from a car
lot in New Mexico;-)

O.K. , l think. He needs to study his manual either way. Most of it is in
there. Along with the thumb drive, which should go any place the coach goes.

Jim,
Sorry...must have missed that part of the thread. So, he needs to get home from Mexico...THEN can change the timing set out.

Thanks for all of those showing interest in helping!

Just to clarify a little, I am in Conifer, Co. but I bought my coach in New Mexico. I am not in Mexico but I wish good luck to any GMCer stuck away
from home.

I am reading through the manual and plan on giving that section to the mechanic. I asked about changing the chain here because I know that the
smarter people here would have tips and tricks to use!

Hopefully this will get me on the road again.

Bob
