First, I have the weights by tire, but didn't think the differences were all
that significant. LF 2120, RF 2140, LR (2 tires) 4,000, RR 4060. I'm surprised
there's as much difference in the weight on the two bogie tires as Tom reported
since they are supported by an equal pressure in the air bag and the linkage
geometry seems to be the same for both tires.
As for sidewalls, when I bought my coach the tires (Michelin XPS steel wall) had
plenty of tread left, but the side walls were severely cracked. That's why I
started researching construction features. After talking to a Michelin tech
rep, who couldn't give me a straight answer as to why the steel wall was better
in a motorhome application, I went with the LTX M/S version. I haven't put
enough miles or time on them yet to give you a testimonial. I will say that
dear departed Clarence Buskirk used and recommended the same tire ( I believe he
went with a wider tread LTX tire on his stretch).
