Tid Bit. Did you tighten the bolts that you put in?

As your working away on your GMC. You get distracted by lunch, a phone call, or whatever. You may lose track of what bolts that you just put in. And has each one been properly tightened. Been there. Done that. Promise.
I put a small chalk mark at each bolt/nut. As I put them in. And only whip that mark off. After I've confirmed the torque on each one. Is properly secured. I started doing this. Because I had a shock bolt come off on one of my Road Race Yenkos. On a track. In a turn. At just above 95 MPH. Been doing this to everything. Ever since. It's been amazing how much comfort that's brought me. While being on the road with everything.

Been there, done that. Got the T shirt that says "Stupid" on it. Engine
assembling with interruptions is a receipe for disaster. Anytime something
interrupts me now, I stop, cover up the engine, and deal with that.

As a mechanic i have a policy....no bolts ever get installed unless they are tightened to proper spec. So if you put a fastener on you tighten it, if
you cannot for some reason do not put it on....simple.

The industry standard that i currently work in is.....all fasteners must be torqued and " striped" using a colored paint pen or "torque stripe"
product that way everyone can see it is secured properly.

My lawnmower rotation tightens the bolt. But I tighten it anyway. Any mil spec line will have marks on the fasteners. Collins had a bunch of
gray-haired ladies who inspected - I was down to pick up a transmitter and Jack Sellmeyer was showing me the line... carpeted no less. As a tech left
a unit, one of the inspectors came over and had a look at something. As the tech turned around she smiled and said "I'm just going to give you a
little red dot" which she stuck atop a bolt. She moved on down the line and the tech cursed for 30 seconds solid. Jack told me, he will waste half
an hour and six sheets of paper getting that marker off. And next time he will tighten the nut and mark it. He said nobody would swing at the ladies
where a guy might get some feedback.

It is practically impossible to perform any suspension repair / replacement
work if each connecting fastener is torqued as it is installed. I just re
check everything once done. As long as you have the discipline to re check
even though you “know” u tightened everything you won’t have issues.

That's why the 'mark it when you torque it'. When you're through, go back and look for unmarked fasteners. I leave all the transmission and engine
mount bolts loose till they're all started. I just hafta remember to torque the hidden two in the back, can't get there to tighten them.
