Those silly little teltale bulbs

What was the outcome of the discussions re: tell tale lights. I read
the posts with disinterest but now I am trying to reassemble the
instrument panel and find that I am short five bulbs and four of those
little bulb holders. Did anyone find a source? Also, I believe that I
saw someone who made new labels for the idiot light panel...was I
dreaming?

By the way, I have eliminated my BDS (Bouncing Dash Syndrome). I put
several hundred screws into the thing. I did consider 1/2" lag bolts
and construction adhesive.....

I would pay $.20 each if I had to! Thanks for the tip on the bulb.

Ronald,

I was part of the last telltale bulb discussion. I haven't actually tried
this, but it looks like a 2721MF or 2721MF/8 bulb/socket combination could
work in the later model telltale panel - wasn't there a difference between
earlier and later models? Anyway, if the holes in your panel are about 9.5mm
(= .375") in diameter and you have trouble finding the bulbs, I can mail you
one of each type and you can let us all know if they work.

There is a god. Peter Brandt sent me two bulbs, 2721MF/8 and 2721MF and both
worked in the telltale panel! Peter, please send me four more, a bill for parts
and shipping and I will be in Colorado this summer to thank you in person (that
is the goal of the restoration project). Did I mention Julie, three unruly kids
and Skippy the Dog will be with me? (Check carefully and you might find Dave
Greenburg in one of the overhead compartments)

Ron,

I'm glad those bulbs work in the telltale panel. Which type fits better?
Maybe Gene could post the numbers on his (fantastic!) website.
I'll check on the price and send you more.
We'd love to meet you, Julie and "the gang" - when are you coming out to
Colorado? Just keep in mind there is a leash law out here, for unruly kids!

Actually, Ron, I was planning to spend the summer at your home!

I will leave the key under the mat. The 30amp hookup is ready for you but
bring an extension cord. Be forewarned. Skippy will christen all six
tires within 5 minutes of your arrival.

Gene,

According to Ron, either type will work. I'll try to get more part numbers
to make them a little easier to find.

I would expect nothing less from Skippy, the Dog. I would even hold the
little fella up so he could mark my spare tire as well. I understand the
need for "Marking" altho I must confess Jan has finally broken me of the
habit!

Glad to hear it. I was embarrassed by my marking habit every time I started
a new job.
