Ok, ok, let's talk about the refurbishment. I imagine this started life as a Chevette, the last one built in 97′. Owner decides to upgrade, spends
$800k and here's the outcome. Someone needs to purchase and restore to original condition for $1.5m. only then does this make any sense.

I read the comments below the auction where the seller said that the owner used it at equestrian events.

He could have taken any GMC and spent a fraction of that $800k and ended up with MUCH more of a "Man cave" vehicle. Likely more reliable too! Approximately $30,000 to get a safe, comfortable and reliable GMC on the road? He could have a fleet of 26 GMC's for what he spent on that Mauck.

I would much rather have KenH's beautiful 23' Birchaven over that "restored" thing.

At the Elkhart International Rally a couple of years ago, the campground was next door to an RV dealer. They had a Mauck that was refurbished by them.
Quite a unique vehicle.

In the last Century, my automotive focus was on performance automotive and
motorcycles, go karts, slingshot dragster, gaskets, competition coupes and
sedans, hot rods. It gravitated towards custom cars and restorations.
As a result, my wife and I attended and participated in car shows like
Hot August Nights in Reno Nevada, and Cadillac Collector's shows in the
Pacific Northwest.
Attending some of the auction shows in connection with these shows
was a real eye opener for this back woods boy.
These collectors, for the most part men, walk around with fancy money
clips chock full of Benjamins. No checkbooks for these guys. If they see
something they like, they buy it on the spot. CASH MONEY. NO RECORDS. They
sell the same way. Tens of thousands of dollars change hands on handshake
deals. Uncle Sam hasn't a clue of it, and gets no cut of it.
Very interesting. Out of my league, for sure. Little short white
haired guys with muff duster moustaches, Tall Texans in cowboy hats, farmer
looking dudes in bib overalls, eastern ivy leaguers with vests and bow
ties, leather patches on the elbows of their sweaters, guys with British
accents. Insert your own names here. BIG MONEY. It don't have the same
meaning to them, as it does to someone like me who had to scratch for every
buck he poured into this hobby. So, 800 k? Could be.

At first I thought the $800K figure was a typo until I looked over the invoices.

Stuff like $7,062.50 in one case to "go-through & document existing electrical system" and "R & D new charging system based on system requirements &
future probabilities" plus "R&D new charging system, product selection". No actual work done on the coach here, just looking over things and thinking
about what to order is billed at over $7,000.

Based on charging myself for similar work on my GMC I can see where my coach could be up in the $600,000 range for all the thinking I've done about it
over the years.

From what I have seen in some of the workmanship of projects on coaches,
procrastination MIGHT HAVE BEEN the most productive part of the work. (Grin)

You are all missing couple of big points:
1. It has 3 TVs. That's got to be worth 50k each since they are probably Plasma, made by hand in the days when they hand soldered each diode to the
back of it. Just imagine how much procrastination (and billing) you can do with those.
2. It has gull-wing doors. That's got to be worth 200k each.
3. It has a fully camouflaged (invisible) head :). That modern technology got to be worth some serious Benjamins.

Let's see? Hmmm. I don't have a T.V. of any kind in our coach. So, they
don't have much value to us.
I do carry a lap top computer, though. It has one of Gary Bovee's
"Idiots guide to a GMC Motorhome" Digital Video Disc in the drive though,
and software programs to allow access to various fuel injection systems
that I encounter on the road. That's got to be worth something, I guess.
I saw a 1955 gull wing Mercedes Benz at a car show, once. Had a for
sale sign in it. A steal at only $900,000.00 U.S. dollars. Was it worth it?
Only to the person who wanted it bad enough to pony up that much cash. Me,
I scratched my head and walked on by.
