Thermasan Question: Chemical Toilet

If you were to burn off ALL the formaldehyde, it would not be a problem. But formaldehydfe is a very powerful biocide which is why Thetford and
Monogram and Veltest all chose to use it. If you have used the recommended dose in your waste tank and run that tank as far down as Theramsan will
pull it, you will still have enough formaldehyde in the dumped contents to interfere with the anerobic activity of a 3000 gallon system.

As long as it is not your sewer system and you don't have to replace the drain field, I guess you don't need to worry. If you can dump it into a
municipal system, (most of these are arobic) it will be diluted to the level that it can be managed.

I have a system installed that I would also like to get working. I have new bearings for the pump. However only one connection at the level sensor is
visible, was it a 2 connection with the second to ground? How did this level sensor work? Also missing the speed sensor, could a throttle position
sensor work. A thermo sensor would work, anyone know of one that would work? What does the vacuum sensor close contacts for, high or low vacuum? Just
about done with the braking and fuel systems now A/C and others...

30mph is needed for the stock system to activate. The vacuum switch closes on low vacuum. ICRC (I can't recall correctly) it is either 12 or 16" of
vacuum. These two sensors working together will operate the system when the exhaust temperature is high enough to do the deed on the waste stream.
If you are searching the web or the forum for information on this system seach for both "thermasan" and "thermosan". ThermAsan is the correct name
but it is often refered to as TherOsan.

When I went to resurrect my Thermasan system the vacuum switch and the speed sensor were both inoperable. Since these two item work together to guess
at the exhaust temperature I decided to directly sense the exhaust temperature. I found I could buy a thermocouple temperature controller for about
$35. With the coach speed at 30 and cruising down the road I read the temperature in the exhaust system from the controller and then set the turn on
setting a bit below that. It works great. Gets rid of about 5 gallons an hour. If we are rolling every day or so there is no need to find a dump
station. On longer trips the only tank concern is finding fresh water.

I don't know how the level sensor worked, but the speed sensors are fairly easy to come by. Do an internet search for speedometer speed sensor. I have
been looking for one of the controllers and level sensors, and can draw up a schematic of the whole thing once I get the parts put together.
 
I think Wally's use of the cruise transducer as a speed sensor has an even
simpler option. Use the cruise light voltage as the engagement control for
the Thermasan. Once you're at speed, engaging the cruise starts the action.
