the "WD-40 Spray Test"?

I don't think I would spray anything flammable around with the engine
running. Any errant spark could start a fire. May I suggest contact cleaner.
It is inert and if a vacuum leak is present the engine will stumble. To test
the brand you use, a quick squirt down the throat of the carb will tell if
it works. I have in the past used WD-40 as a starting fluid on diesels.
Didn't know they had taken the propane out. Thanks for the info.

Hi Terry

Good recommendation re the flammable stuff... but wait till you hear this...
I just bought some Contact Cleaner at my local Track Auto Store here
in the Washington, DC area. I bought it because it was 1/4 the price of
the stuff you get at Radio Shack. I got it home and got out the magnifying
glass to read the instructions on the can.

There is a warning about changes to the normal formulation of 'contact
cleaner' as this stuff is so flammable you have to turn the electronics off
before spraying (probably not a bad practice, but no one does it). It
goes on to say, evacuate the fumes and let it dry thoroughly before
turning the electronics back on. It contains isohexanes and alcohol...
Extremely Flammable! It is a 'Trouble Free' private label product
manufacture for this retailer called Track Auto.

This world is changing faster and accelerating to boot...

Regards,
John (deceptively great weather here near Washington DC)
