The tires again

In all of the froth of the tire discussion a few months ago, I was left
unsatisfied on one front. Is there a consensus as to which is a better
choice (money issues aside): Goodyear G159's or Michelin LTX's?

You are comparing apples to oranges. the Goodyear G159 equivalent Michelin
tire is the XPS rib all steel tire. The LTX is not an all steel tire.

All that I can say is OOPS! I meant to say XPS (seeing as they are the
tires on my coach). I ask the question because reading between the lines
over the last couple of months I had a sense that people preferred the
G159's if they were the equivalent in price and availability. Any truth to
it?

IU don't know that there's a concensus on this topic. My opinion is that
any LRE tire with steel sidewalls fits the bill.

Tread pattern, composition, driving style, coach weight, etc all have an
impact on how the tire performs.

What I did: I bought 16" G159s LRE. Why - readily available in my area,
larege distribution network, good reputation, and personal bias based on
past experience with truck tires.

When I bought my tires (2.5 years ago), Michelin had some recalls of tires
in the local warehouse (according to the Michelin sales guy). I would not
hesitate to bbuy Michelins now though.

What I did the second time: bought another set of G159s for teh second
coach. Why - now I have 2 coaches that I can swap tires & wheels between.
That's 14 Alcoas, 14 G159s. One high mileage per year coach, one expected
to be low mileage per year.

What I did may not be right for you.
