Yes indeed, but a lot more fun than paying interest on the 300K+ for an SOB
one would have to spend to get anywhere near the quality. ( Of course that's
just my opinion/justification
With careful mtce and TLC it will get better... coming off my last 3k trip
we did a compression test (watching the cylinder that got a little mangled
when it swallowed its exhaust valve) and general look-around, bolt
tightening, etc. and were all done in 3 hours. A couple of more hours for
oil change and lube, checking torque on wheels and it'll be ready to roll
again.
Now if I can just get my electrics (alternators) under control...
Checked out "The Mechanical Man" site the other day (thanks much for the
legwork Arch). I'll be calling them tomorrow to see if they have
ideas/suggestions/solutions (and to see if they're still around - I think
the website was last updated in '96).
Being an ol' airplane buff I also inquired re the talking engine monitoring
gizzmo.
