OK, there's two of them. '73 and '77, Palm Beach and E II. George has the notes we took, he'll post them. My camera has decided it doesn't likee
batteries so I have ordered a wall wart supply for it/ If my memory reader reads the chip in the camera I'll post. Otherwise, Prime delivery Sunday

Johnny,

Somebody is messed up. In '73 & 4 there were only the four models named after obscure national parks:
Glacier,
Sequoia,
Painted Desert and
Canyon Lands.

I have found that modern cameras have a half live of about six years.
So, if you really like it and have finally figured out how to use most of the features, it is probably time to replace it.

I realize the naming convention. Howsomever, the decal looks like the paint - original. And the TZE is what we reported. I consider it One Of Them
Things. Have a look at the pictures and decide for yourself.

I guess you got a camera working, go news there.
That white coach is is no newer than '75 (it is not HEI), and that is the first year of the Palm Beach. It sure does look like mostly PB colors
inside. This does not mean that something strange did not happen.

For build, lookit the TZE. It makes it a 73, doesn't it. I wish you'd of been there, you've an eye for tthe differences.

Well Johnny,

You are right that the TZE should be it, and all we actually have is the historical data, and that could be wrong.

I do not know everything and one never really can know what may have happened in the intervening decades.

True dat. But, these have the obviously opriginal patent plates, they haven't moved. However given the laxity in sequence and between models and
years we've seen, they're likely to of been anything. Again, though, the decals look original so I suspect someing came off the line with that TZE
and decal set. No idea when though.

I'd like to see someone younger than me take these coaches on. The '77 can be used with very little trouble as is. I'd like to see someone like
Justin Brady or Hal get hold of the '73 and do it over. Good bones.

I went and looked at these. Ive also been looking at them for several months online and locally when they pop up and the asking price for these after
looking at them seems way too optimistic.

Im no expert on these by any stretch but they are pretty rough. Ive been reading here and everywhere I can find for any kind of buyers tips and feel
like I have a decent handle on what to look for.

you could get two of them and probably make something decent out of them but the asking prices rule that out unless money is no concern.

I think the 77 is the better coach. Put on New tires and drive away. Lots of interior clean up but nothing you couldn't live with while using it.

Both of these are appear to be well within our "A reliable and ready to travel GMC will cost 30K$, all at once or as a kit."

Johnny sent my some pictures that reveal other issues for both.

The 77 has a less molested interior, but I can see several things in the pictures that might be concerns if I were a buyer. The falling apart
curtains in not one of them. The fact that it is parked over grass is an issue. Anyplace but Arizona, a vehicle parked over soil will have rust
issues. These can vary from minor PITA things to needing to replace the frame.
Could it be used as is? Possibly, but as everybody here can tell you in great detail, that first season is going to be a trial. Unless it was
maintained a lot better than the pictures would suggest, it will take a lot of sorting out. The ride height control is still connected, but that
should not be taken to mean that it is functional. The reefer is questionable. It is the AC/DC Norcold. Few of these have survived to this age and
the control on the wall would lead me to suspect that this one did not either.

The 73 says Palm Beach, but it is a '73 (see the door handle?) and the lister calls a sequoia and that is probably the case. He states that the
reefer is gone. The interior has been seriously molested. As long as they stopped there, this is all recoverable at nominal time and expense.
Notice the blocks under the bogies? It needs something there, but there is no telling what. The ride height control is not even connected to the
airspring. The wires hanging by the brake pedal do not inspire confidence. The fact that "as is" the coach cannot be lived in as it was intended I
would mark against it. Needing a reefer is not a big thing unless you hope to boondock to some extent. A small household unit and an inverter has
worked well for me for years. The galley makes it look like it was used as a "trail gate" coach.

As said above, the 30k rule applies here. Both appear to still have 16.5 wheels and the tires should be assumed to be toast. The tanks will have to
be dropped and the rubber lines replaced along with all the other rubber lines anywhere in anything. But this is typical and one of the reasons for
the 30K rule. That rule does include sweat equity at shop rates. When you include the short list above at shop rates, you are into 3K$ for three or
four days work and less that 150$ in material.

The 77 seems to have one new windshield but both of the 73's are quite fogged. This is an only money deal, but it is a 1K per side money deal.

That is my take on what I can see and without Johnny I would know half of that.

so does the asking price seem fairly within reason? I havnt seen but one other for sale elsewhere with my own eyes but several on the online GMC for
sale sites to compare with.

they had listed the prices that previous ones had sold for and they seemed to be in much better shape overall than these.

Im just looking at the for now but the GMCs seem to be an exceptional classic RV I think I want to get one for a project if I can find a good value on
a fixer upper. just not feeling it one these but perhaps Im overlooking something.

BTW I didnt see that 77 there. he mentioned it to me though and the price was more than I was ready to consider after looking at the green striped one
and there was another one that supposedly ran and drove. I think they were asking the same price on that one and he couldnt get it to start. battery
was too weak.

its not on cragslist now so maybe it sold? I may call them back after looking at another one locally if it doesnt pan out.

the other one is not too far from me and supposedly runs too, it looks good in photos and the paint actually shines on it too but Im told it hasnt
been on a trip in over five years. plan to check that one out soon. I forget what year it is and dont have a preference on that but I like the bunk
bed floor plan most.

$4,000 to 5,000 would seem to be a better range. Swap wheels with the 74 with okay tires and go. How far do you need to go to get the coach home?

A set of 6 Alcoa alum. wheels retails at $1,950.00. Most GMCers feel the Alum. Wheels are a good investment safety wise and looks wise.
I am not an expert but ...

Mike,
Wheels on both coaches are OEM steel. The 77 has chrome wheel covers you
could keep.

Swapping wheels to get better tires to drive home with is the frugal
approach. Yes when the time comes aluminum wheels and new tires are a must.

I felt the 77 was the the better value based on what I saw, but I would still want to negotiate that asking price down!
