I attempted to edit archived files using Win98 Wordpad/Notepad -- they
just flat choke with that much volume. Then I found a text editor
listed for sale on the internet -- product called TextPad. It is
marketed by a company in the UK and costs $29US.
The way this works is that you download the software and then pay later
for the license by credit card. If you don't get the license, you
continue to get a nuisance message at start-up.
I've been using for a couple of weeks and as far as I am concerned, it's
great. Super fast and lots of features I haven't even tried yet. Seems
to be everything I was looking for in a text editor.
