Hello gang,
I just switched out the old temp sender, which I kept, to the NAPA TS6469,
as advised for a more accurate indicator on dash gage. However, when
plugged in on ice cold engine the needle pegs the hot reading.

I take it they may not work in every case or possibility it's a bad one.
Are there any other choices?

Thanks,

Check to see connection, grounding it should read full scale, or am I mixed
up.

You did put any teflon tape or sealant on the threads did you? If you did take it back out and clean the treads in both the manifold and the sender. No sealer is needed just put it in snug, do not over tighten. The sender grounds thru the brass treads and with a bad ground it will act funny.

Jim, It reads full scale hot on cold engine.

John, It came with Teflon tape already on the sender. I'll pull it out and
clean both sender and manifold and see what happened.

Thanks guys,

To check things, just ground it temporarily with a wire from the case to
the block.

Hi Billy, I tried that first, no change on gauge. So I removed sender and
cleaned up both threaded surfaces. Still reads max hot.
Bad sender?

Thanks,

Could be. Put the old one back in to see if it still works right. In case you
might've crossed or pinched a wire somewhere in the process.
