Right now I'm planning to drive the mighty regular Taurus down (the SHO's
timing belt needs to be replaced) since the GMC is still a "work in
progress." Would love to be able to bring it but I'll settle for a few days
of gathering information and ideas from those who are lucky enough to be
their in their rig.

I'm planning on leaving New Jersey Sunday morning and staying about 18
miles east of Marion at a motel that sounds fine. Looks like a 10 hrs
sprint down I-81 for most of the way and then some NC highways.

If things work out, I'll spend Monday and Tuesday at the convention and
drive back to NJ late Tuesday afternoon. Not the best arrangement but it
will have to do.

Hope to meet some of the folks there who have provided helpful information
via the web during my short visit to NC. Bye for now and safe
traveling....................

Sad to say that it looks like my '73 won't make it either. Too many
setbacks to the repair schedule. I've got a fall-back plan tho' - I'll
be driving my father's '75 Eleganza II to Marion. Looking forward to
seeing as many GMCnetters as can make it.

We'll be having some sort of social function, probably Monday afternoon
as many of you have told me you'll be leaving early in the week. Check
with Jim Bounds in the commercial parking area or with me. There will
be a GMCnet message board at my coach where I'll try to keep track of
which GMCnetters are there and where they're staying as well as any
announcements. If you need to get a message to another GMCnetter, there
will be "post-its" available for that.

Later,
Patrick

Hi folks!

Well, like Ralph we're not going to have our 23' GMC ready for NC, so
we'll be coming coach-less also. Tom would much prefer to drive to NC
(we also have a Taurus), but it takes 3 days just to get out of Texas,
and I don't have many vacation days left to take!
So it's going to be CO One-Pass miles to Charlotte, and Avis rent
wheels to Marion. I found a local hotel there thru the internet with
reasonable prices (I hope not too reasonable...they offered no
pictures!). We'll be there Sat, Sun. and Mon.but leave again Tues.
Looking forward to this get-together!

Which hotel? We are booked at the ComfortInn but they are pricey $75.00
per night. If you like yours we may change. We also have to rent a car
in the area.
