I finally broke down and bought a new hour meter for the Onan. I can
finally tell how much time I'm putting on it. After I put the panel back
in, I noticed that none of the monitor gauges were working. I can wiggle
the wires through the generator controls hole in the wall and they'll work
again momentarily. I still haven't seen the volt meter work though. I
need to tighten up a connection I reckon.

My question is, (and I feel really silly asking), is how in the HE double L
to you get that dern monitor out of the wall? I think I'm about to tear up
something. It appears to just snap in but I haven't been able to just snap
it out. I can't see any way to get to it from the other side of the wall.

I just needed to know for sure if it was supposed to work that
way. Somebody in the past has put some dense foam rubber under the tabs
which made it very tight. I only tore off a little formica getting it out.

The trouble is in a poor contact at the plug. I can handle that. Still
can't get the volt meter to work though. I'm getting 12v to the bottom
terminal clip that the meter slips into but can't get the meter to read
it. I guess the meter is shot. I can't get it to read straight off the
battery either.

Does anyone know where to get a replacement volt meter for the OEM Systems
Monitor?

I've got voltage at the monitor terminals according to my Volt Ohm
Meter. I just can't get the OEM volt meter to register it. There are 3
studs on the back, one for ground, one that goes to a dead terminal and the
other that goes to the terminal that reads nearly 12 volts. I got to
looking on the back of the meter and it looked like, at one time, there had
been a connection between the 2 studs. I jumped the studs and it now pegs
out the meter at way over 18 volts. I know this isn't right because of the
vom readings.

I just have to find a new meter. Any suggestions on where to find one?
