Synthetic engine oil-what weight?

I'm going shopping for synthetic engine oil. Why, I'm not entirely
sure, but it appears I must :-)

Now, please help me out.
I want to put in 20-50 . I'm interested in exactly why I should or
shouldn't !
Please forward your opinions on what I should use.

Any reasoning(other than personal preference) for your using 15/50? Just
curious as I stated previously my use of 10/30 is purely personal
preference. I've been told(sorry, can't remember the source) that for the
SE US a 15/30 or even a straight 30 weight is best due to our temperate
climate. 10/30 is the closest thing that Mobil1 produces.

Just wondering if I should change...

Greetings Mike; For what its worth, I put 20w-50 in the GMC. They
(403/455) were designed for heavier oil vs. 5w-30 in a more modern engine.
I wouldn't worry about using 10w-30 either so long as the temperature is
below 90 F when you use it. I figure I'll do most of my operating time in
the 70s & 80s. If it where much lower, I would have used the 10w-30.
